Heart to Help

Obtaining and sustaining affordable housing has become an increasing struggle for many Americans, particularly for young adults between the ages of 18-24. As the real estate prices in the Bay Area continue to rise, so does the number of unhoused individuals. According to the 2020 U.S. Census data, Oakland, Ca alone has over 8,000 unhoused people.

For over 30 years, Pretty Heart Inc's Heart to Help Program has been providing assistance to community members in need. Through generous donations from individuals like yourself, we collect gently used clothing, coats, blankets, food, water, and toiletries to directly support members of Alameda County communities. With the support of dedicated volunteers, we assemble goody bags which are then transported and distributed once or more, each month.

The Heart to Help Program was founded by Sharon Lee, a native of Richmond, Ca, and the Data Analyst Manager for Community Health Center Network, a nonprofit healthcare agency in San Leandro. What started with a goal to feed just five people during the holiday season has now grown to serve over 50 community members every month of the year.

We invite you to join us by either volunteering your time or making a donation. By lending a helping hand, you can make a tangible impact on someone's life. Whether it is a few hours of your time or a contribution of water, snacks, toiletries, or clothing, every act of kindness matters.

To volunteer or schedule a donation pickup within Alameda County, please contact Pretty Heart Inc at contact@prettyheartinc.org or call (341) 758-4664. Donations are accepted year-round to ensure we can continue supporting those in need.

Together, we can be the change our community needs. Join Pretty Heart Inc's Heart to Help Program today and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Click here to donate directly to this program.
